On July 16, 2008, and as part of the Centennial Celebration of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. - the oldest Greek organization for African American women - Ms. Hayes will give a presentation entitled Sarbanes Oxley and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. In the wake of the corporate scandals involving Enron, WorldCom and others, Congress passed the act popularly known as "Sarbanes-Oxley" in 2002. Although most provisions of the Act apply only to corporations publically traded under the Securities Act of 1934, two provisions likely apply to nonprofit organizations such as the Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation (EAF).
