Diversity Training
This training program is divided into three modules and consists of a series of online evaluation and learning sessions that is preceded by a careful study of the level of diversity awareness and knowledge in the workforce, and culminates in an evaluation of the lessons learned during the training program.
Diversity is a central component of modernity and it increasingly characterizes the successful workplace. Globalization has increased the dimensions of diversity - a deep understanding of diversity now includes a working understanding of the role that race, ethnicity, culture, gender, disability and religion play in the definition of group and individual identity. The education and training program of S&H Consulting assists our clients in steering a coherent path through the multiplying minefield that attend doing business in a complex global environment.
A diverse non-discriminating workplace has an emergent value - the whole is greater that the sum of its diverse parts. Our training deals with valuing diversity as a foundational component of a successful enterprise. The second pedagogic approach redefines the parameters of our common humanity and refines the qualities that define corporate success.
Individual and group identity frequently create conflict in the workplace that greatly reduces the effectiveness of work teams. The second component of our training expands the understanding of the various dimensions of diversity. This expansion reduces the risk of antagonism and transforms such antagonism that may be present into toleration (this is a minimal outcome) based on cognition to real collaboration where identity differences are seen as group resources that are critical in solving problems.
We note that training does not, in itself produce an utopian workplace where identity differences do not matter and are seen only as variety with no value - rather our program aims to produce a workplace that is compliant with the letter and the spirit of the laws and regulations that govern an American workplace.
